Set up the homepage

Kids Toys comes with a ready-made homepage built from its shortcodes. You paste it into a page, then replace the sample text and images with your own.

1. Create the page

1. Go to Admin → Pages → Create.
2. Name it, for example "Home".
3. Set Template to Homepage.
4. Open platform/themes/kidstoys/sample/ and copy the contents of homepage-content.html into the page content (switch the editor to source/HTML mode first).
5. Save.

2. Make it the homepage

Go to Appearance → Theme options → Page, select your page as the homepage, and save.

3. Replace the sample content

The sample's placeholder pictures are SVG drawings in public/storage/kidstoys/, each with its recommended size written on it. Replace them with your own photos. Then:

1. Upload your own images for the hero slides, promo banners and the deal of the week.
2. Give your product categories an image (Products → Product categories), for the category bubbles.
3. Point each Shop by age bubble at a category, tag or filtered /products URL.
4. Add testimonials (Admin → Testimonials).
5. Give your brands a logo for [brand-logos].
6. Assign a menu to the Category menu location for the "All categories" button. See Menus.
